Now to Him who is able...
Now to Him Who is able to do...
Now to Him Who is able to do all that we ask...
Now to Him Who is able to do abundantly all that we ask...
Now to Him Who is able to do more abundantly all that we ask...
Now to Him Who is able to do more abundantly beyond all that we ask...
Now to Him Who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask...
Now to Him Who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think...
"Now to Him Who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us..." (Ephesians 3:20)
Paul did not pile up these words in order to discourage us from asking! Through him, the Holy Spirit is practically screaming, "ASK!" So, let us go to our great King and ask abundantly.
Hear the words of John Newton...
"Thou art coming to a King,
Large petitions with thee bring;
For His grace and power are such,
None can ever ask too much;
None can ever ask too much."
Since He is an infinitely Great and Good God, able to do all things, we honor Him when we ask for great and good things. We show we believe He is able... and He is willing. Greatness... and Goodness. So, my brothers and sisters, let's shed the prayers that are only for what is small and what is "pretty good". If that is all we pray for, then we dishonor Him.
Perhaps the first thing we need to ask is for the Spirit to fill us with prayers. We are unable to pray without Him!
Jesus promised: "If you then, being evil, no how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!" (Luke 11:13)
